Almdar General Store

Our store, Almdar General Store, is tucked away in the Drangbal area of Pampore. It’s part of the Pulwama region, though we are close enough to Srinagar that some people get the two mixed up. We’ve been operating out of this spot for some time now. It’s a humble little place where we keep all the daily essentials that a house needs. You won't see any fancy marketing here, just rows of jars and packets on the shelves. We have to be careful about our inventory because the space is limited, so we only stock what we know the locals actually want. The mornings are usually spent unloading crates or weighing out items for customers. It’s a quiet kind of work, but it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We know the families around Drangbal quite well since they’ve been coming to us for years. Sometimes the shop feels a bit cluttered, but we know exactly where everything is located. Whether it’s a packet of milk or some soap, we try to keep it on hand. The road outside can be a bit dusty, and the winters are quite sharp, so the shop becomes a bit of a meeting point for people to exchange a few words while they buy their groceries. It’s just a straightforward, honest business where we do our best to keep the shelves stocked for our neighbors in Pampore.
