Wani Traders

Our main spot is in the Sunshien Building on the Main Road in Dagate, but we also have the place in Drangabal, Pampore. Wani Traders has been around for a bit now. If you know the road through Dagate, you’ve probably passed the Sunshien Building a dozen times. It’s a tall building and we are right there in the thick of it. Pampore is where the real work starts with the saffron and the trading, but the office here in Dagate helps us keep track of everything. It gets pretty loud with all the traffic outside, but we don't mind much. We spend our mornings checking the stock and talking to the farmers who come in from Drangabal. It’s a family-run thing, mostly. My brother handles the stuff on the road and I stay back to manage the books and the customers. We don't have a website that does much, we just prefer talking to people face to face. The tea is always hot in the office if anyone stops by. Managing a trading business in Kashmir has its ups and downs with the seasons. When the harvest is on, we barely have time to sit down. The rest of the year is a bit slower, which is nice. We just try to keep things moving along and make sure the quality is what it should be. It’s just us doing what we know and helping our neighbors get their goods to market.
