Govt.Degree College

This is the government degree college located in Dooru, Anantnag. We use the main college building right here in the town. It is a beautiful area with the mountains all around, though the winters can make getting to class a bit difficult when the snow piles up. We provide a place for local students to get their degrees without having to travel all the way to Srinagar. The building is a standard government structure. It is functional. We have classrooms for arts and sciences. The desks are wooden and have many names carved into them from students past. We do not have the newest computers or a massive digital library, but we have enough books to get through the courses. The staff comes from different parts of the state. We spend our days lecturing and helping students with their forms. There is always a queue at the administrative office for something or other. The grounds are open, and sometimes you will see students sitting on the grass studying when the weather is nice. We try to keep the heaters going in the colder months, but it is still chilly. It is a quiet place to learn. People here know each other well because it is a small community. We do not have any flashy stuff. It is just about getting an education and moving forward with life in the valley. We do our work and go home when the sun sets.
