Poliki Raithu Farmer Producer Company Limited

We started Poliki Raithu in a small village called Poliki. It’s in the Vidapanakal area, near Vajrakarur in Ananthapur. The address is 5-52, which is easy to find if you’re local. Ananthapur can be very dry, so farming here is not always easy. We have to be careful with water and choose the right crops. Our group is made of farmers who live right here. We put our resources together to buy seeds in bulk because it’s cheaper that way. The office is just a plain room where we keep our registers. It’s not fancy at all. We spend most of our time out in the dirt anyway. We aren't big businessmen, just people who understand the soil. Sometimes we have problems with the electricity for the pumps. We talk about those things when we meet up. It’s a community effort. If one person has a good harvest, we try to see what they did differently. We share tools sometimes too. It’s better than everyone buying their own expensive stuff. The weather is our biggest boss. We just work around it as best as we can. It’s a simple life. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us taking turns to look after the paperwork. It’s a lot of writing things down by hand. We just want to get a fair price for what we grow. It helps when we stand together against the market fluctuations.
