The Uravakonda Handloom Weavers Clothproducer Company Limited is located at 9/4/605 on Nimbagal Road. If you’ve ever been to Uravakonda, you know it can be a very dry and windy place. We are right there in the middle of it. Our workspace is filled with the smell of yarn and the sounds of people working. We have a lot of weavers who come in and out throughout the day. The building isn't anything fancy—it’s just a practical space where we can get the work done. We deal with a lot of logistics, trying to get the finished handloom products from our village to other places. It’s a lot of coordination. Sometimes the rain catches us off guard and we have to hurry to cover everything up. Our desks are cluttered with ledgers and tea cups. We don’t really do the whole corporate thing with meetings and presentations. Most of our decisions happen over a quick chat in the hallway or outside by the gate. People here have been weaving for generations, so they know what they are doing. We just try to keep the organization part running so they can focus on the cloth. It’s a tough business sometimes, especially with the prices of materials going up, but we manage to keep the doors open. It’s just a regular day for us, working hard and hoping for the best.
