Tirumala Rice Mill

Tirumala Rice Mill is on Maruthinagar Road, at 3-2-157 in Dharmavaram. This part of town gets a lot of traffic, so there’s always noise coming from the street while we work. We’ve been here for a while, and the building looks its age, but it works for us. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of bags and the milling machines. We don’t spend much time on cleaning things to a shine because it’s a rice mill, and there is always going to be some chaff flying around. People from the surrounding areas bring their crops here. We chat for a bit, weigh the bags, and get to it. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise if we start too early, so we try to be mindful of that. It’s a family-run sort of feeling even if we aren't all related. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the machines to finish a cycle. The address is easy to find if you know Maruthinagar. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the sign out front. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from morning till evening. You can usually find one of us hauling bags or checking the moisture in the grain. We just do what needs doing to keep the place running. It’s a basic operation and that’s fine with us. We just keep the gears greased and the floors swept when we can.
