Sr Garments

Sr Garments is situated in Flat 404 of the Grand Cocktia Residency in Ramnagar. It’s a bit unusual because it’s a residential building, but we have turned the flat into a proper little garment unit. When you come up to the fourth floor, you will see what I mean. We have sewing machines set up where a dining table would usually be. There are piles of fabric in the bedrooms and finished shirts or dresses hanging up on racks in the hallway. It is a bit of a tight squeeze, especially when we have a lot of stock, but it works for us. The residents in the building are used to us by now. Ramnagar is a very central place, so it is easy for us to go out and buy materials or send out orders. We don't have a big storefront, so most of our work is done quietly inside the flat. Sometimes the lift is out of order and we have to carry bundles of cloth up the stairs, which is a real workout. We have a couple of tailors who come in daily and we all just sit together and get the work done. It’s a small, family-style operation. We spend most of the day measuring, cutting, and stitching while the radio plays in the background. It is just a simple way of working and it keeps us all quite busy throughout the week.
