We are located at No. 10-36 on River Street, which is just a short walk from the Main Bazaar. You can usually smell our shop before you see it because of all the incense we make. Agarbathis are what we do all day long. The shop is filled with different scents, some stronger than others, depending on what we are mixing that day. It is a family-run kind of thing, and we have been in this spot for quite some time. The street is usually busy with people going to the market, so there is always noise outside our door. We spend our hours rolling and packing the sticks into boxes. It is repetitive work, but there is a certain rhythm to it that we like. Our hands usually end up covered in dark dust by the end of the shift. We sell to the local shops around the bazaar and to people who just walk in off the street. We do not have a big fancy office, just the workspace and some storage for the finished boxes. Sometimes the weather affects how the sticks dry, so we have to keep a close eye on the clouds and the humidity. It is a simple trade that has been passed down through the years. We do not use any big machines, mostly just manual work. It is just what we do here on River Street to earn a living.
