We are located out at Sy. No. 37- 1A2A in Obulapuram Village, which is part of Garladinne Mandal in the Anantapur district. This is a dry, hot part of the country, and you can feel it the moment you step outside. Everything around here is related to minerals and the earth. Our site is basically a mix of an office and a yard where the work actually happens. It’s very dusty, and the sun beats down on the corrugated roofs most of the year. We spend our days managing the mineral loads and keeping track of the trucks coming in from the surrounding areas. It’s hard, physical work for the most part. The office is just a small room with a fan that works overtime to keep us from melting. We don't have fancy carpets or air conditioning that works all that well. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We know the land well. Dealing with minerals means you’re always a little bit dirty by the end of the shift. We drink a lot of water and try to get the heavy work done before the midday heat gets too bad. Anantapur is a tough place to work sometimes because of the weather, but we’ve been here for a long time. There’s no point in making things look polished when the work is about rocks and soil. We just handle the minerals and make sure the logs are right.
