Cmr Poultry Farms

Living and working out at 6/55 in Kadiri means the days start way before the sun is even up. The birds are always awake early, so we have to be too. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between the sheds. We spend a good chunk of the morning checking the feed and making sure the water lines aren't clogged up with anything. It’s dusty work and you definitely don't come home clean at the end of the shift. The smell is something you just get used to after a couple of days. We don't have many neighbors out this way, so it’s mostly just us and the sounds of the farm. When the weather gets really hot in Kadiri, we have to spend extra time keeping things cool. It can get stressful when things don't go right, but that's just farming. We don't have a big corporate team or anything. It’s just a few of us who know how to handle the birds. We load the trucks when they come by and try to keep everything organized. Sometimes the heavy rain makes the ground around the farm all muddy, which makes moving the cages a real pain. We just put our boots on and get on with it. There isn't much time for sitting around. Once the evening chores are done, we finally get a bit of quiet before doing it all again the next morning.
