Bhinder Rice Mill

Bhinder Rice Mill is tucked away in Village Swara, near the Kalman Mod. If you know the Anantapur area, we aren't hard to find. We've been milling rice here for years. It’s a family business, and most of the guys working here live just down the road in the village. The mill is pretty old-school. We don't use a lot of high-tech computers or anything. It’s mostly just the sound of the hullers and the smell of the husk. During harvest season, the courtyard gets completely filled with bags. It gets pretty hectic and we all end up working long hours. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to wait for a part to come from the city, which is a real pain. But that's just part of running a mill in a rural spot. We handle different kinds of paddy depending on what the local farmers are growing that year. We aren't trying to sell to the whole world, just making sure the local bags are filled. It’s a dirty job, and we all go home covered in dust at the end of the shift. But it’s what we’ve always done. My son is starting to learn the ropes now too, though he complains about the heat sometimes. We just keep our heads down and do the work as best as we can.
