Anup Provision

Opposite the daily market is where we spend our whole day. Anup Provision has been here for years, right by Bhagatsingh Maidan. It gets really crowded in the mornings when everyone is out buying their groceries. You can hear the vegetable sellers shouting across the street. We open up early, usually while the air is still cool, and start moving the sacks around. The floor is concrete and stays cold in the winter. Our shelves are packed tight with all kinds of stuff. It’s a bit cramped inside when more than three people come in at once. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. They come in after checking the prices at the market across the way. The maidan nearby often has kids playing or some event going on, so there is always noise coming from that direction. We don't have fancy lights or a big office, just a counter and a stool where we sit when things get slow. By the afternoon, it gets a bit dusty from the traffic. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass jars and counting the stock. It’s a simple life running a shop here. We just keep the doors open and wait for the regulars to stop by for their daily needs. Sometimes we run out of space and have to stack things outside on the pavement. It’s just us doing our thing every single day.
