Optilab

Optilab is over on Station Road, right in the old Khanderia Hospital building. It’s a bit of a landmark, though the building itself has seen better days. We use P.O. Box 77 for our mail, which is a bit old-fashioned, but it works fine for us. Being near the station means it is never truly quiet. You can hear the trains and the crowds all day long. The stairs in the building are narrow and a bit steep, so we tell everyone to watch their step. Inside, the rooms are tall and the walls are thick, so it stays reasonably cool even when it's baking outside. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this for a while. There is a lot of paperwork to keep track of, and our desks are usually covered in files. We don’t have a fancy sign out front, just a small one near the entrance. People find us mostly by word of mouth or because they’ve been coming to this area for years. The kettle is usually going in the corner for tea. We don't have an elevator, so moving equipment up can be a bit of a chore. We just take it slow. It’s a plain, honest place to work. We don’t bother with corporate stuff. We just handle the lab business and go home when the day is done.
