Unique Forgings sits right in the middle of the G.I.D.C. Estate in Vithal, specifically over at Phase-IV. If you’re looking for us, we’re the ones at 2006/1 and 601/1. It’s a busy spot. There’s always trucks coming and going, dropping off raw materials or picking up finished pieces. The air usually smells like hot oil and metal, which is something you just get used to after a week or two on the job. We have a decent sized crew here, guys who know their way around a forge and don't mind getting their hands dirty. It gets pretty loud when all the hammers are going at once, so we do a lot of communicating with hand signals and nods. Sometimes the heat from the furnaces feels like it’s going to melt the walls, but we keep the fans running and take breaks when we need to. It’s not a clean job, you go home with soot on your face and grease under your fingernails, but it feels good to see a stack of finished parts ready to go out the door. We’ve had some of the same machines for a decade, and they still work better than the new stuff if you treat them right. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. People usually just come straight to the side door. It’s practical and it works for what we do here every day in the workshop.
