Out here in Bharoda, things move a little slower than in the middle of Anand. Our place, Shree Kamdhenu Electronics Pvt Ltd, is on 60th Street. It’s not a busy city road, so you can actually hear yourself think while you work. We spend most of our days dealing with parts and boards. The building is a simple one, nothing too modern, but it’s sturdy and keeps the rain out. We have a small group of people working here who have been with us for a long time. We know each other's families and what everyone likes for lunch. Sometimes the power goes out in the village and we have to wait it out, chatting under the shade. We handle a lot of technical stuff that comes in from the Taluka and surrounding areas. It’s practical work. We don't have a receptionist in a suit; you just walk in and talk to whoever is at the bench. The shelves are full of components and boxes that we have organized in a way that only we really understand. It might look a bit cluttered to an outsider, but we know where every single screw is kept. Working in electronics requires patience, and we have plenty of that. We take our time to make sure things are right. People from Umreth come by often to drop things off or pick them up. It’s a good community.
