Milcent Appliances Pvt. Ltd. is based at Plot 20 in the GIDC area of V.U. Nagar. Being in an industrial estate means we are surrounded by other factories and workshops. There is a constant hum of engines and the smell of grease and metal in the air. Our place is where we put together various home appliances. It's a wide-open floor with different stations for assembly and testing. It isn't a silent workplace. You hear the clatter of tools and the occasional shout from one end of the shop to the other. We don't have air conditioning in the main work area, so we rely on big industrial fans to keep the air moving during the afternoon heat. Our office is just a small partitioned space with some old filing cabinets and a computer that has been around for a long time. We don't worry much about how things look as long as the machines are working right. The people here have a lot of experience and don't need much direction. We just know what needs to be built each week. There's a small tea shop just outside the gate where we all go for a break. It's a basic setup without any of those modern office perks. We show up, do the work, and make sure the appliances are ready to go. It is just a straightforward industrial life here in V.U. Nagar.
