Jayendra Patel Foundation

We are over here at number 19 in Arya Nagar Society. It is a quiet place mostly, though you hear the milk trucks early on Dairy Road. The foundation started because we wanted to do something useful here in Anand. Most days, three or four of us are in the office by nine. We have some old desks and the fan makes a bit of a clicking sound when it’s on high, but it keeps the heat away. There’s a small tree right outside the window that gets some nice birds in the morning. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just organizing papers on the table. It isn't a fancy setup. We drink a lot of tea while we talk about what needs to get done next. Sometimes the neighbors pop in to say hello or ask what we are up to. We just try to stay busy and help out where it makes sense. The office gets a bit dusty because of the road work nearby, so we spend ten minutes every morning just wiping things down before we start. It’s just how it is here. We like being in this part of town because it feels like home. There’s nothing too complicated about our day. We just show up, do the work, and then head back to our own houses when the sun goes down.
