Our bakery is right at the Chikhodra Crossing on N. H. 8. It’s a busy intersection and we get a lot of trucks and cars passing by at all hours. Bakeland Bakery started because we wanted to have a place where people could grab something to eat while they were on the road. The ovens stay hot most of the day and there is usually a smell of flour and sugar in the air. It’s not a fancy boutique shop. We have shelves with our stuff and a counter where we talk to the regulars. Some days we run out of things earlier than expected and other days we have a bit extra. That’s just the way baking goes. We spend a lot of time in the back getting things ready for the morning rush. The noise from the highway is always there in the background. It’s a family-style environment where we all know each other’s names. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just focus on the dough and the timers. If you’re driving through Chikhodra Crossing, you’ll see us there. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and we like being the place where people stop for a quick break. It’s honest work and it keeps us on our feet. We take things one batch at a time and try to make sure everything tastes the way it’s supposed to for everyone who stops by.
