Arya Maternity Home Hospital

Down here in Jhalod, our maternity home is a place where a lot of local families have started. It is a small hospital, nothing like the big ones you see in the cities, but it stays busy enough. We have a few delivery rooms and some beds for the mothers to rest in after the babies arrive. The hallways are narrow and the lighting is a bit dim in some spots, but it feels quiet and calm most of the time. You’ll often see fathers pacing back and forth in the small waiting area or grandmothers bringing in tiffins filled with home-cooked food. We spend a lot of our time washing linens and making sure the cradles are ready for the next arrival. The building itself is older, and the paint is peeling a little near the ceiling in the back office. We don't have a big reception desk, just a counter where we keep the registers and a heavy stapler that jams sometimes. It gets quite hot in the summer months, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through Jhalod. Working here means hearing babies crying at all hours of the night, which is something you just get used to after a week. It’s a simple operation, run by people who have lived in this town for years and don't plan on going anywhere else soon.
