Shree Ram Rice Mill

We have been here on Baburi Road for quite a while now. Most days it is just the sound of the machines and the smell of raw grain everywhere. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the big trucks roll in. We spend a lot of time checking the husks and making sure everything is running right. The guys who work here have been around for years, so we all know how the old equipment acts up when it is humid. Sometimes the weather makes things slow down, but that is just part of the job. People come by mostly because they know where we are. It isn’t a fancy place. We have a small office that gets crowded when the farmers show up at the same time. We usually have tea together while waiting for the loads to get processed. My father started things out and now we just keep it going as best as we can. There is always something to fix, whether it is a belt or a motor. The sun hits the front gate early in the morning and that is when we start. It is noisy work and by the end of the shift, everyone is ready to go home and wash the dust off. We don’t do much advertising because everyone around Baburi Road already knows the mill. It’s just us doing the same things every day, year after year. It is simple work but it keeps us busy enough.
