Our place is out in Village Jwaharpur, right near Derabassi. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but it works for what we do at Uma Exim. The air is a bit quieter out here compared to the industrial hubs. We deal with exports and imports, mostly handling the logistics and the paperwork that comes with it. The office isn't much to look at, just a sturdy building where we keep our records and talk to the transporters. Sometimes the power goes out in the village, which can be a real pain when we’re trying to send emails or print invoices. We’ve lived around Derabassi for a long time, so we know most of the people who come by. It’s a small operation, really. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the trucks as they come in. There’s always dust on the windows because of the roads nearby, but we don’t mind it much. It’s part of working in a village setting. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know how the business runs. Every day is pretty much the same—sorting through goods, making sure things are labeled right, and getting them sent off. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. Sometimes we sit outside for a tea break when it’s not too hot. We don’t have any fancy brochures to show people. We just do the work and try to stay organized.
