The Royal Ken

If you’re ever near Gumtala Chowk in Amritsar, you probably know where we are. The Royal Ken is right there near Bikaner Sweets on the way to the airport. It’s a loud spot with all the traffic heading toward the airport road, but we like the activity. Most of us here have a bit of a sweet tooth, so having Bikaner Sweets so close is probably a bad thing for our health but great for our moods. Our work day usually involves a lot of talking and sketching out ideas. We’re near Khalsa College too, so there are always students and young people moving around the bypass. The office is a simple place where we handle different kinds of design and construction questions. We aren’t really into the whole corporate vibe; we just wear regular clothes and talk to people like normal human beings. Sometimes it gets dusty with all the road construction nearby, but we just wipe off the desks and keep going. We’ve had all sorts of people walk in, from folks building their first small home to shop owners looking for a fresh look. We just sit down with them, maybe have some tea, and see what can be done. It’s a local operation, and we’re just part of the daily grind here at the chowk. We don't pretend to be anything we're not. It's just us doing our bit for the neighborhood. It keeps us busy and we like the people around here.
