Tan Leather India operates out of 10b Ragunathpura, right on Majitha Road. It’s a decent area, though the road can get quite busy with traffic during the day. We’ve been working with leather here for a long time. The smell of the hides is the first thing you notice when you walk in. Some people don't like it, but to us, it just smells like work. We have different sections for cutting and finishing. It’s not a high-tech factory. Most of what we do involves old-fashioned tools and a lot of manual effort. Our hands usually have some stains on them by the end of the day. The building is an older style, which fits what we do. We don't have a corporate office in a skyscraper. My desk is tucked into a corner near the window so I can see the street. We get all sorts of people stopping by to ask about what we’re making. It’s a straightforward business. We don't use big words to describe ourselves. We just take the raw material and turn it into something useful. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we just use that time to grab a chai. It’s a slow and steady process, and we like it that way. Majitha Road has everything we need to keep going. We don't need fancy showrooms to do what we do. It’s just us and the leather, doing what we know how to do.
