Sukhmani Architect

Our office is based in Guru Nanak Wara, specifically at House No. 4818. It is very close to Khalsa College for Women, so it is quite easy for people to find us. We have been working from this same spot for a good while now. It is mostly a quiet place where we sit and spend the day working on house plans. We don’t have a large staff, just a couple of us doing the drafting and occasionally checking on the local sites. There are always rolls of paper and pens lying around everywhere. We spend our mornings looking at what needs to get done for the day ahead. Sometimes clients come over to talk about their house projects or to look at some sketches. We try to keep everything very straightforward. It isn’t a corporate environment at all here. It feels more like a home office because that is basically what it is. We handle the local building rules and make sure the designs fit with what is allowed in the area. It is a lot of back and forth with the different builders. We know this neighborhood around the college quite well. It’s a nice place to be. When we aren't at our desks, we are usually out at a construction site nearby. We don't use fancy software for every little thing; sometimes a simple pencil works better for a quick drawing. It is just us doing our job day to day.
