Shukla Hospital

Shukla Hospital has been sitting here on G.T. Road in Chheharta for quite a while. If you’ve ever driven down this stretch, you know how the trucks and buses are always roaring past. The noise is just part of the background now. We have a solid building that stands right by the main road. It’s not a quiet place, but it is a busy one. Inside, it feels a bit more shielded from the dust of the road. We have the usual setup with the reception right as you walk in and then the different rooms for the patients. The lighting is a bit bright, but it helps when you’re looking at charts. We get people from all over Chheharta and even some from the smaller villages nearby. Most of the staff has worked here for years, so we all know each other’s habits. We drink a lot of chai during the afternoon lull. The hospital doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. It’s just a place where people come when they are sick. We have beds, we have medicine, and we have people who know how to help. Sometimes the power goes out and the generator kicks in with a loud hum. That’s just life on G.T. Road. It’s a functional place, nothing more and nothing less. We just keep the doors open and do what needs to be done every day to help the people who walk through those doors.
