Shiv Shakti Karyana

Our shop is Shiv Shakti Karyana, located at Shop No. 7 in Anand Avenue here in Amritsar. We are right opposite Manav Public School, which means we hear the school bell ringing all day long. When the kids get out of school, the whole street gets very noisy and busy for a while. It’s a good spot though. We deal with groceries mostly—pulses, spices, rice, and all the kitchen basics people need. The shop isn’t very big, so we have to stack things high up on the wooden shelves. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to reach the top jars. We’ve been in this building for some time now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with customers to get around to it. Usually, the regulars come in the morning to get their supplies for the day's cooking. We spend our time weighing out bags and chatting about the local news. It’s just a normal daily routine for us. We keep the doors open even when it’s raining or when the Amritsar heat is really hitting hard. You get used to the rhythm of the neighborhood after a while. We don't do anything flashy. We just make sure the shelves aren't empty and that we’re here when someone needs a kilo of sugar or some soap. It’s just how we live and work in Anand Avenue.
