Sharma Murti Shingar

You can find us inside the Durgena Temple, right near the Shiv Puri Gate. It’s a very spiritual place to work. We spend our days doing what we call murti shingar. This involves a lot of things, like decorating the idols and making sure they look right for the devotees who come to pray. Being located inside the temple complex means we see a lot of people every day. It’s never really quiet here, especially during the morning and evening prayers. We have all sorts of items for decorating—cloth, beads, paint, and other small ornaments. Our workspace is small and tucked away, but it’s full of character. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and the temple staff all know us well. It’s not like a regular job in an office. We are surrounded by the smell of incense and the sound of bells. Sometimes the work is very delicate and takes hours of concentration. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just find us when they come to the temple. We take pride in what we do, but we don't feel the need to shout about it. It’s enough to see the murtis looking beautiful in the temple. We just show up every day and do our part for the community and the temple. It is a quiet way to live and we are content here in our small corner.
