If you walk down Mall Road toward Tagore Colony, you’ll find us situated near Kennedy Avenue. We’ve been at 12 Mall Road for quite some time, and the building has that solid, older feel to it. It’s a busy part of the city, so there’s always the sound of cars and people outside our windows. Inside, we try to keep things as organized as possible, though on busy days, the paperwork can really pile up on the front desk. We start our days early, usually by checking on the patients who stayed overnight and then getting the outpatient area ready for the morning rush. The staff here has a routine that doesn’t change much from year to year. We spend a lot of time just talking to the people who walk in, many of whom are our neighbors from Tagore Colony. We don’t use a lot of fancy medical jargon when we speak; we just tell people what’s going on in plain English. The chairs in the waiting area have seen better days, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s a place that works. We focus on the everyday tasks like keeping the equipment running and making sure everyone gets seen by the doctor. It’s not a high-tech corporate facility, just a local hospital where we do our best with what we have. Most evenings, we’re just finishing up the last of the files before heading home, making sure everything is locked up and ready for the next morning.
