Raj Pitaamber Social Foundation

Raj Pitaamber Social Foundation is located in Karinga, which is part of the Methwalia area. It’s a place where everyone knows everyone else’s business, which has its pros and cons. We’ve been set up here for a while, working out of a small building that used to be something else. It’s not a very modern space, but it’s ours. We started the foundation because we saw that a lot of people in Karinga were struggling with things that could be fixed if someone just took the time. We aren't experts with fancy degrees. We’re just local people who wanted to do something useful. Our days are filled with people coming in to talk about their problems. We listen a lot and try to find ways to help out. Sometimes we can’t do much, and that’s hard, but we always try. The office is pretty basic, with just some old tables and a lot of files. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything corporate like that. We just rely on being known in the community. It’s a bit dusty, and the light bulbs flicker sometimes, but it’s a good place to work for us. We don't have any big speeches to give about what we do. We just show up every morning and see who needs help. It’s simple work, but it feels right to be doing it here in Methwalia. It is important to stay connected.
