We are right across from the Arya Bakery, so usually, we can smell whatever they are baking while we work, which makes us all pretty hungry by lunchtime. It’s a lively spot to be in. We specialize in band dresses, which is a bit of a niche thing, but we’ve been doing it long enough that we know the ropes. The shop is full of bright fabrics and different trimmings. It gets pretty dusty with all the threads flying around, but we don't mind it much. We aren't fancy people. We just sit at our machines and get the stitching done. People come from all over for these outfits because they know we're right here at the chowk. It’s a lot of manual work, making sure the buttons are on tight and the braid looks right. We have piles of orders on the shelves, and sometimes it feels like we’ll never get through them, but we always do. It’s just me and a couple of others mostly. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything like that, just this one room where all the magic—if you want to call it that—happens. It's just a regular local business trying to make a living by sewing clothes for the local bands and performers.
