Panjab Jewelry

The shop is right in the middle of Guru Bazar, which is one of the busiest parts of Amritsar. Panjab Jewelry is at number 113, right near Heera Market. If you’ve ever been around here, you know how crowded it gets with people looking for all sorts of things. We have a small storefront, and inside, we spend our time looking at gold and stones under the lights. It’s a lot of sitting and being careful with small details. We see all kinds of people coming in, some just looking and some who have been coming to us for years. The tea guy comes around a few times a day, which is always a good break from the work. We don't have any of those big, shiny advertisements you see in malls. It’s just our name on the sign and the jewelry in the cases. The street outside is full of life, with rickshaws and tourists and locals all pushing past each other. Sometimes it gets so loud we have to close the door just to hear what a customer is saying. We do our repairs and sell our pieces without making a big show of it. It’s a family-style environment where we know our neighbors. The floor is a bit worn from all the foot traffic, but that just shows how many people have stopped by. We just stay here in Guru Bazar and keep doing what we’ve always done.
