We've been running the flour mill here on Loharka Road for a while now. It's called Panj Darya. Most people just know us as the roller mill down the street. It’s a dusty place, as you’d expect with all the grain coming in and out every day. We spend a lot of time checking the machinery and making sure the rollers are set just right. It’s noisy work. The trucks pull up at all hours to drop off wheat or pick up bags of flour to take into town. We don’t have a fancy office or anything like that. Just the mill and the scales and the storage area. It gets pretty hot inside during the summer months but we keep moving. Everyone around here knows the spot. We mostly deal with local bakers and shops that need a steady supply for their bread. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the day fixing a belt or cleaning out a chute. That's just how it goes with this kind of work. We aren't trying to be the biggest operation in the area, just trying to get the milling done properly so the flour is decent. If you’re driving down Loharka Road, you can’t really miss us. The sign is a bit faded but it’s still there. We’ve been at this same spot for years and don’t plan on moving anywhere else anytime soon.
