Modern Engineering Co.

We’ve been here at No-786 in Ghee Mandi for a long time now. If you walk toward the Golden Temple, you’ll probably pass by our doors. It’s always busy around here with the pilgrims and the local traffic, and the shop usually has that smell of metal and grease that stays on your clothes all day. Modern Engineering Co. isn't a fancy place with a big glass front or anything like that. It’s just where we come every morning to work on machines and fix things that people bring in. Sometimes it’s a small part for a motor and other times it’s something bigger that takes us a few days to figure out. We don’t have a big office staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the tools. The walls have some stains and the floor isn’t always clean, but that's how a real workshop looks when you're actually doing stuff. Most of our neighbors know us by name and we usually have tea together when the work slows down in the late afternoon. It gets pretty hot in the summer months, but we keep the fans going and get through the orders. We don't do much advertising because people just find us or hear about us from someone else in the market. It’s a simple way to live, just working with our hands and making sure the jobs get finished before we close up for the night.
