We are based over at 34 Focal Point. Mastercut Knives Manufacturers is the name written on our door, though most people just know us by what we make. It’s an industrial area, so it’s pretty much exactly what you would expect from a place like this. There is lots of noise from the grinding wheels and the sharpening machines going almost all day long. We make all sorts of different knives here. It is a craft that definitely takes a steady hand and a good bit of patience to get right. We aren't a massive factory with thousands of workers and assembly lines. It’s really more of a specialized workshop for us. The floors are usually covered in small metal shavings, and there is always that distinct smell of oil and cold steel hanging in the air. We’ve been doing this for a good bit of time now. The guys working in the back really know their way around a blade and a grinder. We don't have a fancy showroom or a place for people to sit. If you happen to come by, you’ll just see us working hard at the wooden benches. It’s practical, everyday work that we take seriously. We make sure the edges are sharp enough and the handles are put on tight so they don't move. Some days are much busier than others, especially when a large order comes in suddenly. We just keep our heads down and work our way through the pile of work. It’s a local business and we prefer keeping it that way. No corporate nonsense, just making knives.
