We are right in the middle of Majith Mandi, specifically at Bajar Gujran here in Amritsar. If you know the area, you know how crowded and lively it gets. R B Ram Nath Lambah Sons has been a part of this market for a very long time. It’s an old building, and the walls have seen a lot of history. There’s always the smell of spices and the sound of carts being pushed over the stones outside. Our shop isn't modern. We have wooden counters and shelves that have been there since my father's time. We deal with whatever needs doing in the mandi. It’s mostly about keeping track of the stock and talking to the people who come in every day. Some of our customers have been coming here for thirty years. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and start working. The air is thick with dust from the market, and we drink a lot of chai to keep going. It gets very hot in the summer, but we have the ceiling fans. We just do things the old way because it works for us. It’s a family thing, and we take care of the business as best we can. It’s not about being fancy; it’s about being here every day when the market opens. We'll be here tomorrow morning too, just like always.
