Mahinderpal Karyana Store

We have been at Shop No. 32 in Gopal Nagar for quite a while now. Gali Number 2 is where you will find us, right off Majitha Road. Most mornings start early here, getting the shutter up and making sure the floor is swept before the first folks stop by for their daily supplies. It is a small space, but we try to keep it packed with the stuff people actually need. You’ll see bags of atta, different kinds of dal, and the usual tea leaves and sugar sitting on the shelves. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the lane for a bit while we unload new stock, which can be a headache, but that’s just how things go in this part of Amritsar. People around here know us by name, and we know who likes which brand of soap or oil. It isn’t fancy at all. The light inside is a bit dim sometimes, and the counter is old wood that’s seen better days. We spend most of the day weighing out grains or looking for change in the drawer. If a customer is short a few rupees, they just pay it back the next time they pass by. It is just a regular karyana store where we do our work and go home. Majitha Road stays busy, so there is always noise from the traffic outside, but inside it’s mostly just us chatting with neighbors and filling up carry bags for families.
