Lard Karyana Store

Lard Karyana Store is situated at the Main Chowk on Majitha Road in Amritsar, quite close to the Bypass Chowk. Being near the bypass means we get a lot of people who are just traveling through, as well as our regular neighbors. We sell all kinds of karyana items—everything from lentils and rice to soaps and matches. The shop is usually full of smells from the open sacks of spices. It’s a bit of a crowded space because we try to fit as much as possible onto the shelves. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a bit of noise, and the lighting isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is. We spend our days weighing out items and packing them into brown paper bags or plastic pouches. It’s hard work, especially when the heavy bags of sugar arrive. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just want to make sure that when someone from Majitha Road comes in for their groceries, we have what they are looking for. We’ve seen the kids in the neighborhood grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own homes now. It’s just a normal part of life for us here. We aren't trying to be a supermarket; we are just a local karyana store doing our job every day near the bypass.
