I set up my workspace here at 75 Guru Harkrishan Nagar. It’s on Dr. Surta Singh Road, not too far from the Khalsa College post office. I’ve been doing this for some time now, mostly handling the day-to-day tasks of designing and planning. It’s a quiet enough area which helps when I need to concentrate on a complicated set of drawings. I usually start my mornings early before the phone starts ringing. My desk is usually covered in scales, pencils, and bits of paper. I don’t have a big team or a flashy lobby. It’s just a straightforward place where the actual work happens. Most people who come by are neighbors or local folks who need help with their building projects. I spend a lot of time visiting sites and checking on how things are progressing. It’s important to see things in person because drawings don’t always tell the whole story. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to get out, but that’s when I catch up on the filing. Being near the college area means there’s always a bit of energy around, but my office stays pretty calm. I focus on making sure the measurements are right and the materials make sense for the budget people have. It’s steady work and it keeps me busy from Monday to Saturday. Just trying to do a decent job for the people who trust me with their homes.
