Kaur Gurneet Architect

We are based at number 43 in SJS Avenue, which is right near May Flower School on the Link Road in Gumtala. Being near a school means our mornings are usually marked by the sound of buses and kids, which gives the place a bit of life. Kaur Gurneet Architect is a small setup. It is mostly just a few of us working on residential plans and small commercial bits. We have a couple of desks pushed together and a lot of shelf space for all the building codes and catalogs we have collected over the years. The office feels more like a workshop than a corporate space. We spend a lot of time on the Link Road going back and forth to different sites to check on progress. Gumtala is a growing area, so there is always something happening nearby. We don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings, one of us just picks it up. It is a very direct way of working. We spend a lot of time drawing by hand before we even move to the computer because it helps us think better about the space. Sometimes we have clients come over and we just sit in the back room with some tea and look at the sketches. It is not fancy, but it works for us. We just try to be honest about what can be done with a budget and a piece of land. It is a lot of measuring and double-checking, but that is the only way to do it.
