Jai Kamal Eye Hospital

Jai Kamal Eye Hospital is situated right opposite Sandhu Colony on the G. T. Road in Chheharta. Being on the G.T. Road means there is a constant hum of trucks and buses passing by at all hours. It is a very busy part of Amritsar. Our building stands out enough that people don't usually get lost finding us. Inside, the atmosphere is a bit different from the noise outside. We have the eye testing rooms set up with the usual charts and machines. The floors are white tile and we try our best to keep them shining, though the dust from the main road is a constant battle. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they wait. The staff usually starts the day by wiping down the equipment and checking the appointment book. It’s a very straightforward operation. We don’t have any fancy art on the walls or big advertisements. It’s just a hospital where we look at eyes. Sometimes the neighbors from Sandhu Colony drop by just to say hello or ask a quick question. In the evenings, the light from the streetlamps starts to filter in through the glass doors. We make sure all the machines are covered up before we lock up for the night. It’s a routine we’ve had for a long time now. We just focus on the task at hand and keep things running.
