Doctor Simranjit Singh Nagi

My practice is out here in Sarwali, which is a bit of a quiet spot in Gurdaspur. I’ve been working as a doctor here for a good amount of time now. The clinic isn’t much to look at from the outside, just a plain building where I see patients every day. People around here know me, and I know most of their families. In a place like Sarwali, you don’t really need a big sign. Most folks just walk in when they have a fever or some pain that won't go away. I spend my mornings sitting at my wooden desk, waiting for the first few patients to arrive. Some days are very slow, especially when it’s harvest time and everyone is out in the fields. Other days, I have a line of people out the door before I even open up. I try to listen to everyone, even if I’m running behind. There isn't a huge staff here, usually just me and someone to help with the door and the files. We deal with basic stuff, mostly. If something is really serious, I have to tell them to go into the bigger hospitals in Gurdaspur city. It’s a simple life being a village doctor. I see a lot of the same health issues over and over. I keep my medical books handy just in case. It’s just how things work in this part of the world. I plan on staying here for a long time yet.
