About Rice Machinery Works – Agriculture & Farming in Amritsar
Our workshop is tucked away at the backside of Ajit Palace on Dhapai Road. It’s a busy street, but once you get behind the palace, it’s a bit more focused on the actual manual work. We spend our days around rice machinery, fixing things and putting different parts together. It’s greasy work, and our hands are usually stained with oil by the time lunch rolls around. We’ve been here for years, and the neighbors all know the sound of our tools going in the morning. The shop is filled with old iron and new parts mixed together on the shelves. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific wrench in the pile, but we know where everything is eventually. People bring their equipment from all over the area because they know we’ve seen these machines many times before. We don't use any high-tech systems for our records, mostly just a ledger and a blue pen. It’s how we like it. The air always smells like metal and old grease. We usually have a pot of tea going in the corner for anyone who stops by to chat while they wait for a repair. Dhapai Road has changed a lot lately, but our little spot stays pretty much the same. We aren't interested in being the biggest shop in town, just the one that gets the machines running again. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till late.
