Deep General Store

Deep General Store is situated in the Ada Dubriji area of Amritsar, quite close to the Government Hospital. Being near a hospital means we see a lot of different people every day. Some are just passing through, while others are neighbors who have lived here forever. Our shop in Main Bazar stays pretty busy. We stock everything from washing powder to bags of rice. The shelves are always full, sometimes a bit too full, making it hard to see everything at once. We’ve had this shop for years, and it hasn't changed much except for maybe a new coat of paint every now and then. Working here means you never really have a slow day. There is always someone looking for a specific soap or a particular type of tea. We try to keep things organized, but in a small shop, things tend to get moved around a lot. My brother and I take turns sitting at the front. It’s a good location, and the hospital nearby means the street is always active. Sometimes the trucks delivering goods have trouble parking on the narrow road, so we have to carry boxes ourselves. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just know we're here. If you're near the Govt Hospital and need some groceries, you'll find us easily enough. We stay open until the market quietens down in the late evening.
