A. K. Rumala Centre

If you go to the Clock Tower Market and look for Shop No. 104 118, you will find A. K. Rumala Centre. Being in the market means it is always loud and crowded, but that is just the way we like it. We have been selling rumalas here for many years. It is a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. There are rumalas of all different colors and patterns stacked up to the ceiling. It’s a very specific kind of business, and we take it seriously even though we are just a small local shop. The Clock Tower is a great place to be because everyone comes through here at some point. We spend our days helping people pick out the right cloth for their needs. Sometimes it’s just one person looking for something simple, and other times it’s a whole family. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to be very organized with how we store everything. There’s no air conditioning, just a couple of old fans that hum while we work. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, so we often chat with them when things are slow. It’s a good life being part of the market. We don't need a big corporate office because this small shop is where all the real work happens.
