Chhabra General Store

Chhabra General Store is right in Katra Jaimal Singh in Amritsar. It is a very busy part of town near Ram Bagh Chowk. If you look across the street, you can see the police station. This area is always full of people, especially tourists and locals going to the markets. Our shop is quite small considering how much stuff we try to fit inside. We have things piled up in corners and hanging from the rafters. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. The street outside is narrow and usually blocked by scooters and carts. We spend a lot of our time moving things around to make space for people to stand. There is a lot of tea drinking happening here while we wait for the next rush of customers. The air smells like street food and exhaust from the chowk. We sell the usual things—washing powder, biscuits, cooking oil, and whatever else people need for their daily lives. We don't have any big sales or marketing tricks. We just tell you the price and put it in a bag. Sometimes the noise from the market is so loud we have to shout to be heard. It is a hectic place to work, but we like being in the middle of everything. It’s a typical Amritsar shop, a bit cramped but always open for business. We've been at this spot for a long time and the shop smells like old paper and spices from the morning shipments.
