Ballu Confectionary

If you walk down Majitha Road in Amritsar and look across from the Bank Of Baroda, you will see Ballu Confectionary right there in Mani Bazaar. It is a small place but we keep it packed with all sorts of snacks and sweets. We have those big glass jars filled with different kinds of candies and biscuits that children like. The bazaar is always noisy with scooters and people walking by, so there is never a quiet moment. We started this because there was a need for a good local spot to grab quick bites. It is not a cafe or a fancy restaurant, just a counter where you can get what you need. Amritsar weather can be tough, either very hot or quite cold, so we adjust the stock based on the season. During festivals, the place gets really hectic and we barely have room to stand behind the counter. We don't use any fancy packaging, just plain paper bags or whatever the items come in. My family helps out during the busy hours. We have some old chairs if someone wants to sit for a minute, but most people are in a hurry. The floor is made of old stone and it has seen a lot of feet over the years. We don't claim to be the biggest, we just do our job every day and try to keep the jars full. It is a simple life here in Mani Bazaar.
