About Ashok Kumar Gupta Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Amritsar
If you come down Gali No.1 in Bagh Rama Nand and look for House No.2448/28, that’s where you’ll find me. I’ve been working as an architect from this spot for quite some time now. It’s a home-based setup in many ways, which makes it feel a bit more relaxed than a cold office building. My desk is usually buried under layers of tracing paper and site notes. I don't have a big staff or a fancy reception desk. It’s mostly just me and occasionally a helper when things get really busy. People from around the neighborhood know to just knock on the door. We usually end up sitting at the table, looking over sketches and talking about how to make a room feel bigger or where to put the windows for better light. It’s a very hands-on way of working. I like being able to see the project from the first pencil mark to the final brick being laid. I don't use a lot of fancy words or try to sell people on things they don't need. I just give them my honest opinion on what will work for their space and their budget. Being in Bagh Rama Nand, I’ve seen the area change over the years, and I’m glad to have played a small part in some of the houses here. It’s simple, steady work that keeps me busy enough every day.
