Our place is situated on Mehta Road in the New Focal Point area of Amritsar. It’s an industrial zone, so it’s not exactly a place for a stroll, but it’s where all the actual work happens. Dealing with textile effluent treatment means we are always busy with the side of the industry that most people don’t see. We have our facility at C-76 and that is where we spend our long days. Amritsar Textile Effluent Treatment Private Limited is a long name for a fairly simple operation of cleaning up water. It involves a lot of monitoring the systems and making sure the treatment process is running the way it should be. The air around here always has that industrial smell and the roads are constantly full of heavy trucks. We don’t have a fancy office with nice chairs. We have a small room with some basic desks and a lot of logbooks to fill out. It’s a necessary job for the local textile mills and we take it seriously, even if it’s just the daily grind for us. We spend a lot of time in our work boots. It’s not the kind of job where you stay clean. We have a small crew and everyone knows how to handle the machinery. Sometimes things break down and we stay late to fix them. We don't have time for fancy speeches or meetings. We just show up, do the work, and try to keep things moving as well as we can every day.
