If you are looking for Vijay Shoes, we are right across from Amrit Cinema. It’s a pretty easy landmark to find. People often stop by before or after they catch a movie. Our shop is simple. We have shelves lined up with all sorts of footwear. It’s not one of those big malls where everything is shiny. We have a few chairs for people to sit and try things on. Sometimes the floor gets a bit dirty when it rains, but we try to sweep it out when we can. Being opposite the cinema means we see a lot of different people every day. Some are just window shopping while they wait for their friends. We don’t mind. It’s good to have the company. The street can get quite loud in the evenings when the shows let out. We stay open pretty late to catch that crowd. The sign outside has been there for years and the letters are starting to fade a bit. We keep thinking about fixing it, but then we get busy with customers and forget. It’s a small family-run feel here. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this block. We've been here long enough to see the cinema change its posters hundreds of times. It’s just a regular shoe shop, nothing more, nothing less. We just show up, unlock the doors, and do our thing. It's been that way for a long time and we like the routine of it.
