You can find Ambika Trading Co. down at the New Sabji Mandi in Vallah. We are at Shop Number 43, specifically in Shed Number 4. If you know the market, you know it gets incredibly crowded and loud very early in the morning. That’s when most of our work happens. We deal with all sorts of trading things here, mostly stuff coming in from the farms or going out to the smaller vendors. The shed is basic, just a roof and some space to stack goods. It’s not fancy by any means. There’s always the smell of fresh produce and dirt in the air. We’ve been in this spot for a while now. The floors are usually a bit messy from all the foot traffic and the crates being dragged around. Sometimes it’s hard to hear yourself think with all the shouting and the trucks backing up. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. You just come to the stall and talk to whoever is standing there. We try to keep things organized but in a busy place like Vallah New Sabji Mandi, things get chaotic fast. We just focus on getting the counts right and making sure everyone gets what they paid for. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from before sunrise until the heat gets too bad in the afternoon.
